GOC LEADS TROOPS IN BATTLE
In a continuous
campaign to root the dastardly Boko Haram out of Nigeria once and for all, and
in furtherance of the recent Onslaught against Terrorist positions on Nigerian
territory, die-hard troops of the Nigerian Army have re-captured Bama, a major
town in Borno State, which had been under Boko Haram’s control since September,
2014.
The recapture of
Bama deals a hugely significant blow to the ranks of the Boko Haram in their
bid to carve out an islamic caliphate in
Nigerian territory, even as they have now had their beloved caliphate
cut down to the single enclave of Gwoza.
The capture also
serves as an intense morale booster to the special and regular Nigerian forces who
have intensely harassed and decimated the foot soldiers of the enemy who are
now on the run, out of the sights of the now-dreaded T-72 Battle Armor tanks
which have been deployed to devastating effect in the theatre of operations. The
capture of the town is in itself significant
given that Nigerian troops have time and again made unsuccessful attempts to
recapture the vicinity.
Sources from the
battleground indicate that soldiers broke
into wild jubilation in Maimalari Barracks, headquarters of the 7th Division of the
Nigerian Army in Maiduguri after the commercial town had been liberated.
Bama is the second
largest town in Borno State and has a place in the history of the Kanuri.
It was learnt that
the battle to recapture the town was led by the General Officer Commanding, 7th
Division, Major-General Lamidi Adeosun.
The GOC, a crack infantry general, led his team to the town on
Monday and returned on Tuesday after troops had successfully recaptured the
town.
A source among the
troops said, “The general did not even utilize our crack boys in Konduga. He
just took his team from our supply of new boys here and drove straight into
Bama, leaving the Konduga guys to rest and continue watching his back till he
took over Bama. He chased the bad people out, removed their flags and installed
our authority."
The stage is now
set for the battle of all battles, as the battle-hardened Nigerian troops, and
their combatant allies in Chad, Niger and Cameroon led by the crack infantry
Generals and other commanders confront Shekau and his hordes of hired
mercenaries in their enclave at Gwoza. Shekau, it would seem has now run out of
manouvering space, as he has nowhere to run now, giving his penchant for
fleeing the battle-field severally, abandoning his men to their fate.
What remains to be
seen now, is whether Shekau will once again resurrect after he is killed...one
more time!
