A Nigerian non-governmental organisation (NGO), the Support
Our Troops Foundation (SOTF), was at the Army Headquarters, Nigerian Army
recently to present a donation of 1,000 desert camouflage vests and other
branded items to the troops fighting terrorism in the north-east.
While presenting the donated items to the Chief of Logistics (COLOG ‘A’), Major General Bamidele Ologundudu who represented the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Minimah at the occasion, the founder and Chief Executive Officer of the charity organisation, Mrs. Funmi Oladeinde-Ogbue, stated that the branded items were facilitated by Global Nigeria Ltd. She was accompanied by the chairman board of trustee of the organisation, Mr. Femi Adefila.
At the occasion, Mrs Oladeinde-Ogbue presented a
certificate of return to the representative of COAS for the items
and further stated that her NGO did not intend to stop the support
gesture. A brief video clip showing the activities of the NGO was also
presented during the event.
In response to the goodwill gesture, the representative of
the COAS, Major General Bamidele Ologundudu, said SOTF and other
NGOs have been rendering support to the Nigerian Army in its
efforts to combat insurgency in the country. He also made it known
that SOTF has made donations in the past to the families of deceased personnel
and called on other well-meaning NGOs to emulate the organisation,
adding that fighting insurgency is a collective effort. The SOTF
was established in 2014 with a mission to provide moral support to the troops
fighting insurgency in the north-east. Earlier in his opening remarks at the
occasion, the Director Clothing Services Army, Brigadier General
Clement Uwah, made it known that SOTF also made similar donations
to the troops engaged in fighting terrorism and insurgency in
north-eastern Nigeria in the past
