Troops of 28 Task Force Brigade
Nigerian Army deployed at Bitta and Pridang have carried out a successful raid
on suspected Boko Haram terrorists camps at Bulajilin and Manawashe villages
along Bita and Damboa road at the fringes of Sambisa forest. The troops were
able to kill 30 Boko Haram terrorists in the process while also rescuing 338
persons who had been captives of the terrorists in their enclaves.
This information was contained in a Media Release
by the Director, Army Public Relations, Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman today.
The rescued persons, comprising 8 males, 138 females
and 192 children, have since been evacuated to Mubi.
It was also stated that the troops recovered the
following arms and ammunitions during the raid operation: 1 General Purpose
Machine Gun and 2 Dane Guns, 150 rounds of 7.62mm (NATO), 6 boxes of 7.62mm
(NATO) and 3 cutlasses.
In a related development, 4 suspected Boko Haram
terrorists were killed in an ambush by Nigerian troops on their way to carry
out a suicide bombing mission at Gubula, Madagali Local Government Area, Adamawa
State. 2 AK-47 rifles were recovered from them, while the troops also recovered
some Unexploded Ordinances (UXOs), mortar bombs and cash sum of N153,385.
