A group of Boko Haram insurgents attempted to infiltrate Kotori village in Konduga area, but they were repelled by troops deployed to the area, Babagana Zulum, the state governor told media after a visit to the affected village.
He lauded the troops of Operation Lafiya Dole who repelled the coordinated attacks, saying the state government would strengthen civilian troops and local hunters to complement efforts of the military and other security agencies.
Zulum did not reveal casualties on both sides, but reiterated his call to the insurgents to surrender for de-radicalization and reintegration into society.
The northeast region has been destabilized for over a decade by the extremist group Boko Haram, which most notoriously kidnapped hundreds of schoolgirls in 2014.
