The onslaught against armed banditry and other forms of criminality in Zamfara state continues to yield more rewards as troops of Operation Hadari Daji have recovered nothing less than 10,000 rounds of ammunition and other assorted weapons from the criminal elements.
This was disclosed by the Force Commander Operation Hadari Daji Brigadier General Aminu Bande when the Executive Governor of Zamfara State, Dr Bello Mohammed (MON) paid an unscheduled courtesy visit to the Force
Headquarters of Operation Hadarin (OPHD) in Gusau, Zamfara State on Thursday
16 April 2020 when he received the news of the recovery of some weapons by troops of the
operation from bandits operating in the State.
It was gathered that the recovered weapons surrendered by repentant armed bandits in the state included 1 General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG), 3 Fabrique Nationale (FN) rifles and 1 AK-47 rifle while troops captured a total of 14 AK 47 rifles and 10,000 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) Ammunition.
In his remarks, the Force Commander appreciated the Zamfara State Governor for the immense support given to the military in the state in the course of carrying out its constitutional responsibilities of securing the state. According to General Bande, “the support of the State Government and indeed the good people of Zamfara was central to the creation of an enabling environment for the military to operate effectively in the state.”
He lauded the Governor for his unquantifiable support towards the successes being recorded by the Operation in the state. In particular, he praised the magnanimity of the state in providing an array of logistics, including the present location of the Force Headquarters which hitherto served as the Zamfara State Presidential Lodge, amongst others.
The Force Commander thereafter assured that Operation Hadari Daji would not relent on her oars until armed banditry was totally crushed and peace was fully restored in the state, while also reassuring the good and peace-loving people of Zamfara State of their safety. The Force Commander also warned all recalcitrant bandits to immediately lay down their arms and key into the ongoing peace initiative of the Zamfara State Government or face decisive military action.
In his remarks, Governor Bello Mohammed appreciated the Force Commander and all his officers and men for playing a vital role in fostering decisive peace in the state. He lauded the Force Commander for his visionary and dynamic leadership since assuming command of the operation. He emphasized that peace in Zamfara state would have remained a mirage if not for the concerted efforts of the Nigerian Military under the auspices of Operation Hadarin Daji.
His Excellency also stated that his administration had perfected plans to donate 190 motorcycles to the operation while a further 200 vehicles would soon be distributed amongst the security agencies in the state to aid their operations.
