Boko Haram's campaign of terror has been largely fuelled by violence of unimaginable proportions. Despite the large-scale blood-letting across the North East of Nigeria, the sect has always claimed to be following the teachings of Islam and the prophet Muhammad (SAW) in establishing its caliphate amongst others. However, several Islamic clerics have, time and again, lent their voices to the school of thought asserting that the sect is satanic and has no ties to Islam.
In yet another explosive evidence to support this argument, a Boko Haram fighter captured by troops of the Nigerian Army doesn't seem to know anything about Islam or the Holy Quran. Several others who are in the custody of security agencies have also denounced the ideology of the group as one driven purely by greed, materialistic needs, and the need for power amongst others. This clearly shows that Boko Haram is not an Islamic group.
