In preparation and show of readiness ahead of the 2023 General Elections, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 82 Division Nigerian Army Major General Aminu Chinade has charged troops of Operation SAFE CONDUCT to be professional, neutral and apolitical in the discharge of their responsibilities at all times.
The GOC gave the charge recently when he addressed troops deployed for the elections. He stated that the mandate of the military is to work with other sister security agencies, host communities and other stakeholders on national security to protect lives, properties and indeed provide an enabling environment for the successful and peaceful conduct of the General Elections.
While delivering the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya's goodwill message to the troops, General Chinade said "you are deployed to the South East to contribute toward ensuring public safety and security, particularly before, during and after the conduct of the General Elections".
The GOC further charged troops to be guided by the Rules of Engagement and Code of Conduct for the General Elections. He thereafter used the opportunity to thanked the COAS for providing all the necessary logistics and guidance to the Division to ensure we deliver on our constitutional roles.
