JUST IN: Lecturer Arrested for Votes Buying In Benue

 



The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC) team on election Monitoring has arrested a suspected vote buyer who is reportedly a lecturer with the Sarwuan Tarka University in Makurdi, Benue State.


 The suspect, one Dr. Cletus Tyokyaa was arrested at the RCM Polling Unit in Daudu of Guma Local Government Area, while in possession of the sum of N306, 700 in different denominations in his car.


Tyokyaa tried to run away from the voting centre which was later discovered to be different from his polling unit, on sighting operatives of the EFCC.


The suspect when interrogated on his mission at the voting center, could not provide a cogent explanation, leading to his arrest. The operatives of the EFCC after searching his car discovered the money in various denominations.


He was released after volunteering a statement to the Commission.
