AFCSC Organizes Seminar on Counter Terrorism and Counter Insurgency Operations




The joint Counter -  Terrorism and Counter - Insurgency (CTCOIN) Seminar is a bi-annual event organized by the Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC) Jaji Nigeria as part of the CTCOIN package for the Senior Course Curriculum. The three days seminar is aimed to enhance the students understanding of Multi Agency Operations in an assymetric environment. The event was attended by major stakeholders in Defence and Security sectors.





During the event which took place from February 27 - 1 March 2023, the Commandant of the College, Air Vice Marshall EA Wonah  who declared the event open stated that, the seminar was apt and timely considering the enormous roles the Armed Forces and other security agencies play in combating the security challenges faced by the country.



Furthermore, he mentioned that, the seminar with the theme, " Optimizing the Whole of Society Approach in Counter Terrorism and Counter Insurgency Operations," was also in line with the objectives of the College, which is to developed the professional knowledge and competence of the student officers in other to prepare them for increasing responsibilities in command and staff functions. While, addressing the students, the Commandant therefore, urged them to promote synergy and cooperation in their working relations with members of other security agencies, which he said is necessary in securing the nation.


The seminar also witnessed the presentation of lectures by carefully selected seasoned  senior officers, both serving and retired including, Brig Gen AM Tukur, Brig Gen OI Odigie, Maj Gen AE Edet, Brig Gen SK Usman (rtd), the Emir of Kaura  Namoda, HRH Maj Dr Sanusi Mohammed Ahmed (rtd) and Maj Gen AK Ibrahim respectively.

In his remarks, the Special Guest of Honour and Commander Infantry Corps, Maj Gen CG Musa mentioned that effective counter terrorism and counter insurgency operations involves issues like good governance, population security as well as solid economic development measures. According to him, all of which must be underpinned   by robust information operations which, he said unify and drive other activities including military operations.

Therefore, Maj Gen Musa charged the students to take the lessons from the seminar seriously and keep close to their hearts.  Finally, he commended the Commandant for organizing the seminar, maintaining the high standard the College is known for and declared the seminar closed.


Highlights of the seminar included, Presentation of Lectures, Interactive Sessions, Presentation of Souvenirs and Group Photograph.
