Massive Shakeup as Nigerian Army Redeploys Senior Officers

In a major shake-up, the Nigerian Army has redeployed 75 of its senior officers.This re deployment will take effect from April 3, 2023, the YATAB Network can authoritatively report.





Among those affected are Major General Abdul Khalifa Ibrahim of the Multi-National Joint Task Force, MNJTF in the Lake Chad and the General Officer Commanding, GOC, of 1 Division, Kaduna, Maj. Gen. Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja.

General Khalifa will be departing MNJTF on secondment to National Center for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons (NCCSALW) at the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA). On his part, General Lagbaja will be leaving the 1 Division for the Army Headquarters as Chief of Operations.

 Also affected are Major General Waidi Shaibu who will take a bow from the ongoing Counter Terrorism Operations where he is the General Officer Commanding 7 Division/Sector 1 Operation Hadin Kai and take up a new appointment at the Defence Space Administration. In his stead, comes Major General AE Abubakar, who is currently the Commander Sector 3 Operation Hadin Kai, Monguno. Meanwhile, the current Chief of Operations, Nigerian Army, Major General Olufemi Akinjobi will take over as the Gen­eral Officer Commanding (GOC) 1 Division Nigeri­an Army Kaduna.Similarly Major General Gold Chibuisi, a Director to the Chief of Army Staff in Abuja will take over as the Force Commander MNJTF.

The Nigerian Army is expected to issue an official statement on the redeployment any moment from now.
