There was pandemonium at the Federal University, Gusau, Zamfara State last night, as heavily armed terrorists stormed Sabon Gida village in Bungudu LGA (Federal University Gusau ) students off-campus hostels, and kidnap some female students.
Sources familiar with the unfortunate incident disclosed to the YATAB Network that the fully armed terrorists arrived the area at about 1am on Sunday 2nd April 2023, picked the students and moved away with them to an unknown destination.
However, troops deployed within the general area have taken control of the situation while efforts are on to locate the kidnapped students.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police Zamfara State Police Command, CP Kolo Yusuf psc, has reassured the general Public especially families and the management of Federal University Gusau that, efforts are ongoing to rescue the two students of the university abducted in the early hours of sunday, as Police Tactical Operatives have intensified search and rescue operation.
This was disclosed in a Press Statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Gambo Isah issued to the Press.
The Police spokesman disclosed that "information received by the Command indicated that, On 2nd April, 2023 at about 0100am, Armed bandits stormed sabon gida village in Bungudu LGA and broke into a rented female hostel of the university where they locked up the two (2) civilian guards and dispossessed them of their handsets and later abducted two (2) female student of Microbiology Department of the university."
"On receipt of the report, the Police Tactical team moved to the scene, but the hoodlums had already fled with the victims to an unknown destination. The Commissioner of Police has further deployed reinforcement to complement the ongoing rescue operation to rescue the hostages hale and hearty, arrest the perpetrators and charge them to court for prosecution."
