Troops of the Joint Task Force (JTF) North West Operation Hadarin Daji (OPHD) have recorded another tremendous success in the ongoing Counter Terrorism operation in Zamfara State by neutralizing scores of terrorists in a meeting engagement recently.
This was disclosed to the YATAB Network by an impeccable intelligence source within the area of operations.
The source informed the YATAB Network, an NGO committed to the Counter Insurgency and Anti banditry campaign in Africa that the troops while on their routine patrol at Bakura general areas received credible intelligence reports on the terrorists movement with large herds of cattle.
"The combat force speedily and tactically deployed to the vicinity and engaged the criminals in a fierce firefight ahead of Galadimai village in Damri district of Bakura LGA of Zamfara state", the source stated.
He added further that "After the encounter, 3 armed bandits were neutralized while several others fled with gunshot wounds and abandoned the rustled animals. Another 5 dead bodies were later discovered along the withdrawal route of the marauding criminals."
"Troops exploited ahead of the area and recovered 1 AK 47 rifle, and 5 Motorcycles, along with the herd of animals comprising Camels, Sheep and Goats"
"Similarly, troops while on patrol within Magami community responded to a distress call on the kidnap of 6 of persons by terrorists at Magami community. The troops immediately deployed, and were met with heavy volume of fire from the terrorists."
"The gallant troops however adopted anti-ambush drills, displaying professionalism and a fluid tactical disposition, suppressed the criminals and overwhelmed them with superior fire power, following which 2 terrorists were neutralized while some of the kidnapped victims were rescued."
"Troops are currently combing the general area in search of other kidnaped victims. The gallant troops also recovered 1 AK 47 rifle, 6 Automatic Grenade Launcher Bombs, and 2 Magazines amongst other items.", the source ended.
